“You Ask and Wonder” is a new type of event from Ask and Wonder where audience members sit at different tables to discuss a given topic. On December 12th, audience member will have the opportunity to dialogue about: why do we avoid difficult conversations?
The order of the event is the following:
Introduction from Harding House Brewing Co.
Introduction from Pedro R. García (founder of Ask and Wonder)
Introduction of rules and structure for healthy and challenging conversation.
Conversations.
Short-live interviews to audience members about their experience.
Why do we avoid difficult conversations?
Have you noticed how our conversations have become more superficial, are usually led by external activities, and they refrain from going deeper into questioning our lives? Not only that, we tend to get very emotional quickly as soon as we encounter disagreement.
Ideas need to clash so that they can be refined and together continue the search for truth. We shouldn’t avoid difficult conversations and challenging ideas which might put into question our world-view. The key is to find ways to doing it out real care for every human being, realizing that behind an opinion, there is a human being with a full range of emotions, experiences, passions and insecurities.
That is the goal of “You Ask and Wonder” finding ways to have better, healthier, deeper, more empathetic, challenging conversations.
